The Backing Tracks Debate Continues
Many Rock acts have weighed in on the use of pre-recorded tracks in concert.
New Years Day singer Ash Costello has no problem with backing tracks.
“It is not cheating. It’s just some music is impossible (to reproduce live), unless you have a 20-piece orchestra or a synthesizer — it’s just not realistic,” stated Costello. “So I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.”
On the other side of the issue is Halestorm’s Arejay Hale.
“We’ve always kind of prided ourselves by being one of the few bands that doesn’t use any backtracks or any type of sound enhancement,” the drummer offered. “We always felt it was more important for us to get the playing right within the four of us and to get the sound right with our playing.”
