The expanded 50th anniversary edition of Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Band On The Run” has arrived.

The band’s third studio album was originally released in December of ’73, containing the title track, “Jet,” “Bluebird,” “Let Me Roll It,” and “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five.” It went to #1 in the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom and Australia and remains McCartney’s most successful album.

McCartney wanted to make an album in an exotic location and chose Lagos, Nigeria. But shortly before departing drummer Denny Seiwell and guitarist Henry McCullough left the group.

As a result, only Paul, his wife Linda and guitarist Denny Laine made the trip with McCartney playing bass, drums, percussion and most of the lead guitar parts. The studio was primitive at best, so overdubs and other finishing touches were completed in London.
