July 21st, 2008: Kid Rock Is In Court Over Waffle House Fight

Please pass the syrup.

On this day sixteen years ago… Kid Rock entered a no-contest plea to assault charges stemming from an ’07 incident at an Atlanta-area Waffle House. Rock was arrested after he and some associates scuffled with Harlen Akins, a fellow Waffle House customer.

Rock was slapped with a $1,000 fine and put on a year’s probation. He also had to do 80 hours of community service and attend six anger-management classes.

But that wasn’t the end of it. In ’10, an Atlanta jury awarded $40,000 to Akins who had filed a lawsuit claiming Rock had cursed him before the musician and five members of his entourage beat Akins and smashed his cell phones during the fight.
