7/11 “Wonderwall” Is A Victory Song

“Cmon England cmon Wonderwall,” Oasis vocalist Liam Gallagher writes in a post after England’s six wins leading to the semi-finals of the World Cup. After each victory, Oasis’ “Wonderwall” was played in the stadiums, with the team and their fans singing along. Too bad England gets bounced from the international competition.

7/11 Geddy Lee Returns To The Stage

Having recovered from laryngitis and bronchitis, frontman Geddy Lee returns to the stage as Rush resumes their “Fifty Something” reunion tour in Fort Worth, TX.

Shows in late June and early July were cancelled due to Lee’s aliment. The Fort Worth concert marks Rush’s first live show in two weeks.

Rush kicked off their reunion tour on June 7th in L.A. and is currently set to conclude in Helsinki, Finland on April 10th, 2027. Joining Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson are drummer Anika Niles (replacing the late Neil Peart) and keyboardist Loren Gold.

7/13 System Of A Down Get Revenge

System Of A Down lead the audience at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a massive Oasis diss chant.  Obviously, SOAD has some bad feelings regarding Oasis which dates back to the early ’00s when Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher said in a U.S. radio interview that he felt that System Of A Down was the “shittiest band of all time.”

“We have a little song about a tapeworm,” says SOAD’s Daron Malakian during the London show.

“Just for fun today I’m going to name the tapeworm. Today I’m going to name the tapeworm ‘Oasis,'” he offers, leading a “Pull Oasis out of your ass” chant as the band starts playing the opening notes to “Needles.”

Making sure the moment isn’t just relegated to the local audience, Malakian shares a video clip on Instagram.

7/13 Beartooth Frontman Files

Beartooth’s Caleb Shomo and his wife Fleur are ending their marriage of 14 years. The estranged couple jointly file for divorce in Los Angeles.

“I am a proudly gay man,” says the singer. “This is something I’ve been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now.”

7/13 Phish Fans Get Busted

The Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issues a statement on Facebook announcing the seizure of copious amounts of drugs over the course of Phish’s three shows at the Ruoff Music Center. “Frankly, we are disappointed in the number of people who showed up to engage in illicit behavior,” reads the statement. Officers reportedly seized shrooms, acid, weed, MDMA, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl and (of course) nitrous oxide.

7/14 John Corabi Leaves Dead Daisies… Again

The Dead Daisies issue a statement that reads:  “It has come to our attention that John Corabi has decided to leave The Dead Daisies.” Corabi, who has a solo career, leaves after his latest three-year run with the band.

Corabi originally joined The Dead Daisies in 2015 but departed four years later.

7/14 Pophouse Buys Iron Maiden

Pophouse Entertainment, the global entertainment and music investment firm, formally announces that it has acquired a 50% “stake” in the assets of Iron Maiden which includes publishing and master music rights plus name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights. Further terms are not disclosed.

“Blow By Blow: The Jeff Beck Story” by Brad Tolinski and Chris Gill, is the first biography to fully capture the life, music (Yardbirds, Jeff Beck Group and solo artist) and vision of this late singular guitarist. Original interviews with Beck, are augmented by extensive conversations with friends and collaborators including Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, actor Johnny Depp, record executive Clive Davis and many others.

7/16 Gojira Drummer To Miss U.S. Shows

Gojira says Mario Duplantier will miss the band’s U.S. festival appearances in July due to an unspecified “immigration issue.” He will be temporarily replaced by Luigi Paraventi. “(Mario) has fought hard every step of the way to find a solution,” reports the band.

7/16 Wildfires Postpone Concerts

A spate of wildfires in Canada leads Creed, Black Keys, John Mellencamp and Sebastian Bach to postpone U.S. shows.
Health alerts are issued for Chicago, Grand Rapids, Pittsburgh and Toledo due to smoke spreading from over 800 blazes north of the U.S. border.
