“The band has received over 10,000 submissions for the position of additional guitarist,” Smashing Pumpkins revealed in a social media post on Tuesday (1/16). “Currently, there are 8 people working full-time to review each and every one.”
On January 5th, the Billy Corgan (pictured) led outfit announced on Instagram that they were looking for a new guitarist following last October’s departure of longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder after sixteen years with the Pumpkins.
The response to the open audition was amazing with the band inundated with way more applicants than they could have anticipated.
Smashing Pumpkins currently consists of founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin.
