Mammoth Tops Mainstream Rock
Wolfgang Van Halen‘s band Mammoth has reached the top of the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart (dated 8/2) with “The End.”
“I’ve had the tapping idea on the intro for ‘The End’ since before Mammoth,” explained Van Halen. “I was able to fit it into this world. It’s still over-the-top and shreddy, but it’s also melodic and controlled. Once we finished ‘The End,’ it felt really special to me.”
The End
Mammoth (once known as Mammoth WVH) has now logged three #1s following “Distance” and “Don’t Back Down.”
Notably, Van Halen with Wolfgang’s legendary guitarist father, Eddie Van Halen, at one point held the record for most Mainstream Rock #1s which stood until 2018, when it was broken by Three Days Grace. Shinedown currently holds the record with 20 #1 hits.
“The End” is the title track off the upcoming third Mammoth album, due out October 24th. The band is currently on tour with Creed and will launch their own headlining run in the fall.
