Anette Olzon’s “Rapture”

Former Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon has presented her third album, “Rapture,” featuring the title track, “Day Of Wrath” and Heed The Call.” Her previous solo albums were “Shine” (’14) and “Strong” (’21).

Olzon officially joined Nightwish in early ’07, after being chosen from about 2,000 applicants. She replaced vocalist Tarja Turunen, who was fired.

Olzon was in Nightwish from ’07 to ’12 recording two albums: “Dark Passion Play” (’07) and “Imaginaerum.”

In the fall of ’12, Olzon wanted the band’s tour dates pushed back due to her pregnancy, but the request was denied with Floor Jansen chosen as a substitute. She eventually became Olzon’s permanent replacement.

“They (Nightwish) did their heaviest touring when I joined,” explained Olzon. “All of a sudden, they wanted to do so many long weeks (touring). I remember just that I had a five-year-old son (and) I came home after five weeks. I was home one week… before I went off again for four weeks.”
