Weather has been a challenge for outdoor shows this summer.

The latest case in point is the Blue Ridge Rock Festival which has announced the cancelation of all of its scheduled weekend performances — due to ongoing severe weather.

Friday evening a major storm rolled through the festival site at the Virginia International Raceway during Coheed & Cambria’s set, which ultimately got cut short.

Shortly thereafter, the festival’s first night was canceled.

Lightning, hail, driving rain and winds resulted in a sudden evacuation which did not go smoothly.

There were limited opportunities to seek shelter as directed due to a shortage of shuttle buses leaving attendees stranded in the elements.

Obviously, not wanting to go through that again, organizers pulled the plug on the festival.

“Our focus now is on supporting those of you still on-site,” organizers wrote in a post.

50,000 tickets were sold for the festival. Information on refunds will be forthcoming.
