“Atomic City,” the current U2 single, is the band’s fifty-first song to land on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. The track was written as a promotional tie-in to the band’s “Achtung Baby” concert residency in Vegas.
U2 holds the record for the most appearances on the chart (51). The band has had 21 Top 10 hits – seven of which went to #1.
Tom Petty, both as a solo artist and with the Heartbreakers, has 48 chart appearances. Van Halen follows closely behind with 47 hits.
