Skunk Anansie’s New Single: “An Artist Is An Artist”
Skunk Anansie have released a lyric video for “An Artist Is An Artist,” their first new music in almost three years – a pair of singles (“Piggy” and “Can’t Take You Anywhere”) dropped in ’22.
The song was produced by TV On The Radio’s David Sitek (pictured).
“His name seemed to be on a lot of records that we liked,” frontwoman Skin (Deborah Dyer) said of Sitek. “But none of the records sounded the same. The records all sounded fresh, but mainly the artists all sounded like themselves.”
“He basically reminded us that the process of making music didn’t need to be that complicated,” added guitarist Ace (Martin Kent). “When you start a band it never is, so it was a good reminder of that, and he got us to strip things right down,”
Skunk Anansie formed in 1994 and released three albums before going on an extended hiatus in ’01. The London band reconvened in ’08 and issued another three studio albums before delivering a 25th anniversary live album, “25LIVE@25,” that drew from their six studio albums.
