Sex Pistols Documentary Lands This Month
Founding bassist Glen Matlock joins forces with directors Andre Relis and Nick Mead to tell the band’s story in the documentary “I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol.”
The film, available to buy or rent on digital streaming platforms, features interviews with Matlock, Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones and drummer Paul Cook plus key figures from the Punk scene: Debbie Harry (Blondie), Billy Idol and Wayne Kramer (MC5) to name a few.
“I Was a Teenage Sex Pistol” is loosely based on Matlock’s 1996 memoir of the same name. “It speaks of behind-the-scenes tales of internal politics and subterfuge,” relays Matlock.
The documentary will be available to buy or rent on digital platforms in the U.S. starting Tuesday, May 26th, with pre-orders beginning Tuesday, May 12th on Apple TV.
Matlock adds: “For anybody interested in the birth of British Punk and its effect on the then wider music scene, I’d suggest it’s essential viewing — but then I would say that!”
