“Power” From “Operation Mindcrime III” Drops
Ex-Queensrÿche singer Geoff Tate will release “Operation: Mindcrime III” on May 3rd. It’s the third installment in the “Operation: Mindcrime” album series.
“Operation Mindcrime” (1988) and “Operation Mindcrime II (2006) were recorded by Queensrÿche while Tate was with the band.
The storyline still revolves around Nikki, a drug addict-turned-assassin manipulated by Dr. X. But this time around the story is told from Dr. X’s perspective. “(His) perspective is completely different, ’cause he’s not the victim at all,” explained Tate. “So it’s very aggressive.”

The set’s lead single, “Power.” “It’s a really cool song — very, very energetic, very up, and kind of says a lot in a very short time, which I like,” added Tate.
The song was written by Tate and his guitarist/producer Kieran Robertson. “Operation: Mindcrime III” co-producer John Moyer (Disturbed) played bass.
Power
Legal action followed Tate’s firing from Queensrÿche in 2012. The settlement gave Tate the sole right to perform “Operation: Mindcrime” and “Operation: Mindcrime II” live in their entirety.
