Pearl Jam has committed to $200 per ton of CO2 produced for its carbon offset strategy, Globally, the carbon offset market averages $1-15 per ton.

Touring leaves a large carbon footprint – traveling, moving tons of equipment around the world with staging and tearing down for each concert.

Since ‘03, Pearl Jam has made investments totaling over $1 million dollars to offset carbon emissions from touring.

“We are not going to move to a carbon-neutral economy without a massive shift in priorities and behavior,” states PJ guitarist Stone Gossard. “We hope to… highlight the most compelling avenues for carbon sequestration, mitigation, and reduction… to make the enormous efforts and innovations required to move our world to a carbon balanced economy.”
