Paramore: 2023 Headlines
Paramore – in sickness and in health
Paramore’s “This Is Why” (released 2/10) debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Album Sales charts. The set held the #2 spot on the Billboard 200. It was the band’s first album in six years and featured the title track.
Paramore postponed a 7/22 concert in San Francisco just two hours before the scheduled show due to an “illness within the touring party.”
Fans took to Twitter to express frustrations and concerns…
“Find it odd there’s no apology or basically any F’s given to the fans in that statement,” one fan wrote.
“Hope everyone gets well soon. But this is real tough for the people who camped out for days, especially with the show in just a couple hours,” added another.
One fan wanted more than just a ticket reimbursement.
“I will be submitting my bridge toll receipt for refund as well.”
Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry appeared onstage during Paramore’s rescheduled 8/7 concert at Chase Center in San Francisco. The basketball star performed a rendition of Paramore‘s “Misery Business.” Frontwoman Haley Williams and Curry “go back a few years” so his appearance was not unexpected.
Paramore postponed additional shows in Portland, OR and Salt Lake City due to Williams’ ongoing lung infection. These shows too were rescheduled for the coming weeks.
On the 10/6 edition of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Paramore’s Haley Williams talked about the physical impact of her long-term headbang to songs during concerts. The vocalist had to undergo physical therapy to reduce neck pain due to her eroding cervical vertebrae.
