Gojira Perform During Olympics Opening Ceremonies
Gojira performed at the Olympics opening ceremony in Paris on 7/26. Their appearance, complete with fireworks, consisted of an “original” collaboration with opera singer Marina Viotti, who has “experimented with Jazz, Gospel and Heavy Metal.”
Gojira, a French Progressive Metal band, is considered a standard-bearer for bringing French Rock to an international audience. Their appearance is the first by a Metal band at an Olympics opening ceremony.
The band’s most recent effort, “Fortitude,” went to #1 on Billboard’s Top Albums chart in ’21.
