Disturbed’s David Draiman Takes On Westboro
Disturbed frontman David Draiman called out the Westboro Baptist Church who chose to protest the band’s 2/2 show in Kansas City.
After two fans came on stage to talk about the positives of being Disturbed fans, Draiman mentioned that Westboro Baptist Church members were outside the venue protesting the band’s appearance. He mocked those who consider Disturbed “devil music.” Draiman called that “horseshit.”
Referencing the Westboro protesters he added, “for them to be so vain as to look down from their high horse, look at all of us, and tell us that we’re doing something wrong …. Who’s the sinner?”
“What’s the worst thing you’re going to experience at a Disturbed show? A little profanity,” asked Draiman rhetorically. “Will profanity kill you? No, but the darkness can and it is our job to dispel the darkness.”
The Westboro Baptist Church, an unaffiliated church in Topeka, was founded in 1955 and is widely considered a hate group.
