Today In Rock: March 30th, 2019 – Disturbed Has “A Reason To Fight”

On this day… Disturbed’s “A Reason To Fight” was #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs chart becoming the band’s sixth consecutive chart-topper – a record.

Disturbed’s five previous #1’s are “The Vengeful One,” “The Light,” “The Sound Of Silence” (the Simon and Garfunkel cover), “Open Your Eyes” and “Are You Ready.”

The acoustic-based power ballad about addiction originated with a demo created by guitarist Dan Donegan. The demo resonated with frontman David Draiman who had seen up close the impact on people who fall victim to dependence issues.

“A Reason To Fight” was released as the second single (following “Are You Ready”) off Disturbed’s seventh studio album “Evolution.” The song topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart for three weeks.

Three Days Grace previously held the consecutive #1’s record with five between ‘12 and ‘15.
