Springsteen Receives Prestigious Award

Bruce Springsteen received the Ivors Academy fellowship Thursday (5/23) night in London. He is the first international songwriter, 27th person overall, to be inducted into the fellowship, which is the awards’ highest honor.

Sir Paul McCartney led the induction ceremony joking that “unlike Bruce’s concerts” he would “keep this brief.”

The Academy is one of the largest professional associations for music writers in Europe. The academy works to support, protect, and campaign for the interests of songwriters, lyricists and composers.

McCartney was the first recipient in ’00 after the fellowship was established. Over the years, Sir Elton John, Sting and Peter Gabriel have also been inducted.
