It happens every election cycle. Politicians play songs at rallies without asking the artist’s permission. This year’s complaints are already underway.

Johnny Marr, former guitarist for The Smiths, wasn’t happy to learn that the band’s “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want,” was being played at Donald Trump rallies.

“I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass,” Marr wrote in a 1/23 post on X. “Consider this shit shut right down right now.”

Marr joins the ‘Contested Use Club” that includes R.E.M. and Aerosmith who have also demanded Trump not play their music at his rallies.
