Metallica now holds the attendance record for SoFi Stadium in L.A.
More than 156,000 tickets were purchased for the two-concert stand (last Friday and Sunday) as part of Metallica’s “M72” world tour.
The in-the-round stage design, with a hollow center, provides more space to accommodate fans. In addition, there are eight speaker/monitor towers anchored by a raised platform that doubles as VIP seating.
Taylor Swift’s recent six-night run at SoFi was attended by 420,000 ticket-holders (70,000-plus in attendance each time). Metallica’s concerts had a higher per show attendance.
SoCal stadium opened in September ‘20.
