Metallica’s X Account Compromised?
It’s suspected that Metallica’s official X account may have been compromised. On 6/25 the account was promoting a token with the ticker METAL.
There were a flurry of Tweets promoting “a dynamic new token on the Solana blockchain” that would revolutionize event experiences and online shopping. The posts claimed this was in collaboration with Ticketmaster.
Posts also implied that MoonPay was involved, but the firm posted a notice stating, “MoonPay does NOT support METAL.”
Metallica’s name was used in ’22 crypto scam. Livestreams and YouTube channels were launched as well as “Metallica Crypto” giveaways. The band released a statement warning fans not to fall for the scams.
