7/18 Shadows Fall Celebrate Major Anniversary

Shadows Fall celebrate 30 years of Metalcore with a special hometown concert at the MGM Aria Ballroom in Springfield, MA, where it’s officially declared “Shadows Fall Day” by the city’s mayor.

It’s the only show the band booked for the year.

7/18 L7’s Jennifer Finch Dies

The bassist and founding member of L7 dies at age 59 after battling brain cancer.

Finch’s passing comes just a little over a week after the band announced that she would not be on the band’s farewell tour due to illness.

Finch’s death marks the loss of a pioneering figure in Alternative Rock,

7/20 Crowbar Cancel Euro Tour

The band cancels its previously announced summer “Confess To Nothing” European tour due to bilateral synovial cyst on frontman Kirk Windstein’s spine.
“To cut straight to the point, it’s acting up and has been for a couple of weeks now, ” says Windstein, who undergoes physical therapy.

7/21 Disturbed Guitarist Sells House

Dan Donegan sells his home in Orland Park, IL for $1.575 million. According to public records, the 57-year-old musician bought the 7,000-square-foot house for $1.3 million.

“I’m selling my home!!!!!! 3 yrs was enough for me & it’s time to move on,” writes Donegan. “I’m gonna be splitting my time between the Glen and Sarasota, Florida.

“Let me be clear, Illinois is still home. I’m going back to Homer Glen & I’ll still be here 80%.” 

7/22 The First “Ozzy Day”

The first “Ozzy Day” in Birmingham, England, is a free program of live music, public art, special performances and shared moments celebrating the life, legacy and Birmingham roots of the Prince Of Darkness.

The day transforms locations across the city into a living tribute to the Aston-born Rock legend.

7/22 Ramones, Smashing Pumpkins and Linkin Park To Get Walk Of Fame Stars

The three bands are selected for inclusion on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame – Class Of 2027. A star on the Walk of Fame is one of the highest entertainment honors. A date for installation will be determined later.

7/23 “Take Me Back To Eden” Goes Platinum

Sleep Token’s third studio album, “Take Me Back To Eden,” is officially certified platinum (1,000,000 units moved) by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), while the single “The Summoning” is certified gold (500,000 units).

“Take Me Back To Eden’ the first platinum album on the legendary Spinefarm imprint.

In addition to sales, the 2023 album has accrued over two billion global streams.

7/23 Ozzy Osbourne Photo Exhibition In Jersey

Photographer Mark Weiss presents “Back To The Beginning: Remembering Ozzy Osbourne,” a landmark photography exhibition at Art Spot in Asbury Park, NJ celebrating Ozzy’s 44-year career.

Weiss began shooting “The Prince of Darkness” in ’81.

7/23 David Lee Roth Bails On Tour

The ex-Van Halen singer cancels all but one show (in Sturgis, SD) of the remaining dates of his current U.S. tour.

No reason is given for the cancelations, but there are reports of empty seats at multiple Roth dates, which leads to speculation that low ticket sales contributed to the decision to end the tour.

7/23 Jon Bon Jovi Ends Show

Bon Jovi abruptly ends its concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City after frontman Jon Bon Jovi reveals he is suffering from a sinus infection.

Bon Jovi tells the audience that he has to stop the show because he’s not feeling well.

“I haven’t talked to anybody about anything, but don’t throw away your ticket stubs,” says Bon Jovi. “I’m going to figure something out, okay? Just hold on to them. We’ll figure out how to reschedule.” The show is part of Bon Jovi’s MSG residency.

7/23 A Covers Band Opens Comic-Con

San Diego Comic-Con opens with the Billie Joe Armstrong (Green Day) fronted band The Coverups who are joined by Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson for a rendition of Mott The Hoople’s “All The Young Dudes.”

Rather than performing Green Day hits, The Coverups set features classic Rock, Punk, Power Pop and New Wave.

7/24 Sick Of It All Frontman Succumbs To Cancer

Vocalist Lou Koller of the New York Hardcore band Sick Of It All dies after a long battle with an esophageal tumor. He was 59 years old.

“The level of loss that we feel at this time is overwhelming,” writes the band.

7/25 One Tribe Nation Makes Live Debut

One Tribe Nation makes its L.A. live debut at The Bluesadelic Sessions Live at The Den Studios.

Led by guitarist and musical director Michael Sanders and featuring Grammy-winning vocalist Corey Glover of Living Colour, the band plays a set of originals and classic Soul/Rock covers.
