George Michael Takes Rock Hall Fan Vote
The 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote has ended. Over 6-million votes were cast.
The Top 5 artists are:
- 1,040,000 votes – George Michael (“Faith“)
- 928,000 votes – Cyndi Lauper (“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun“)
- 634,000 votes – Warren Zevon (“Werewolves Of London“)
- 449,000 votes – Iron Maiden (“The Number Of The Beast,” “Run To The Hills“)
- 427,000 votes – Soundgarden (“Black Hole Sun,” “Fell On Black Days“)
The Top 5 artists will gain one extra vote added to the official votes cast by members of the Rock Hall, which includes musicians, business leaders and other industry professionals.
George Michael, a pop singer, first gained notice as the main singer for Wham! (“Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”) before going solo leaning heavily on ballads and duets.
Often the winner of the fan vote is inducted into the Hall.
Sheryl Crow (#8), Rage Against The Machine (#11) and White Stripes (#12) were among the 14 performers nominated.
2023 inductees will be announced in May. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2023 Induction Ceremony will take place later this year.
