Dolly Parton Rock Star
Dolly Parton‘s “Rockstar” has arrived. It’s the Country legend’s debut Rock album.
The set contains covers of “Open Arms” (Journey), “Purple Rain” (Prince,) (“I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” (Rolling Stones), “Stairway To Heaven” (Led Zeppelin) and “Freebird” (Lynyrd Skynyrd).
Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac), Ann Wilson (Heart) (Steve Perry (Journey), John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival), John 5 (Mötley Crüe) and Nikki Sixx (Mötley Crüe) contributed to the album.
The single, “Bygones,” features Judas Priest‘s Rob Halford (with Mötley Crüe‘s Nikki Sixx and John 5).
“It is one of my very favorites on the whole (‘Rockstar’) album,” said Parton. “The song fits with so many couples and coupling my voice with Rob, one of my all-time favorites, made it even more special.”
Following her surprise nomination and later induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year, Parton vowed to release a Rock oriented album.
