Disturbed: 2023 Headlines

Tour success despite setbacks proves the band is “Unstoppable.”

/8 Disturbed’s David Draiman dumps Tinder, the dating app, less than a week after he announced he was using the service to find “the right woman” following his divorce.  He deletes his account, calling it “an absolute shitshow” where “scammers, grifters, fakes and phonies abound.”

/28 Draiman sings an acapella version of the Israeli national anthem “Hatikvah” before a sold-out crowd during the band’s Tel Aviv Expo concert. The Hebrew-speaking Draiman once trained to be a cantor.

/22 Disturbed’s concert in Phoenix is canceled due to “excessive heat” which keeps the band’s equipment from powering up properly.

/19 Disturbed score its twelfth #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay (dated 8/19) with “Unstoppable.” The track is from the band’s eighth album “Divisive.”

/21 A pyro display during the closing song, “Inside The Fire” sets off the venue’s emergency sprinkler system, pouring water all over the group and stage, possibly damaging the equipment. Nearly the same thing happened July 27th during a concert in Houston, TX.

/30  Disturbed are presented with a key to the city of Tinley Park, IL (on 8/30), prior to their show at Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre. The band filmed the music video for “Down With The Sickness” at the Credit Union 1 Amphitheatre (then known as Tweeter Center) in May ’01.

/30 According to Billboard, Disturbed‘s “Take Back Your Life” summer tour grossed $17.4 million and sold 336,000 tickets. The trek had 30 stops.

/10 Draiman denounces Hamas’s attack on Israel, which killed over 900 Israelis and wounded over 2,400 others. “There’s no justification for the barbarity and the inhumanity that was on display over the course of the past few days against Jews in Israel, and there’s no justification for the support of the acts, the inhumane acts perpetrated against Jews all over the world,” states Draiman.

/10  “Bad Man,” from the band’s “Divisive” album is nominated for a 2024 Best Metal Performance Grammy award. The ceremony will take place in L.A. in February.
