Springsteen Releases Anti-ICE Song
Just days after the killing of Alex Pretti at the hands of United States Customs and Border Protection agents in Minneapolis, Bruce Springsteen has responded with the protest song, “Streets Of Minneapolis,” which denounces “Trump’s federal thugs,” (White House Chief of Staff) Stephen Miller and (Secretary of Homeland Security) Kristi Noem’s “dirty lies,” and calls for ICE to leave the city at once.”
Streets Of Minneapolis
The song is dedicated “to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good,” writes Springsteen. The White House calls the track “random” and “irrelevant.”
During a recent appearance at the Light of Day benefit in Red Bank, NJ, Springsteen said, “If you believe in the power of law and that no one stands above it. If you stand against heavily-armed masked federal troops invading an American city, using gestapo tactics against our fellow citizens, if you believe you don’t deserve to be murdered for exercising your American right to protest, then send a message to this president, as the mayor of the city said: ICE should get the fuck out of Minneapolis.”
