Local Impact Of Ozzy/Black Sabbath “Back To The Beginning” Concert Revealed
Black Sabbath’s farewell concert made a total of £33.8 million (approximately $45.5 million).
The new figures from the University of Birmingham show £27.6 million (approximately $37 million) of the total amount raised by the “Back To The Beginning” event at Villa Park in Birmingham, U.K. was retained in the West Midlands region.
“As regional economists from the University of Birmingham, we thought we would do our bit to honor Ozzy’s legacy by estimating the economic impact of his last gig,” explained Dr. Matt Lyons. “The impact of the Prince Of Darkness obviously goes far beyond the financial impact his gigs and TV shows have netted.”
Last month, Ozzy’s widow Sharon shot down as “ridiculous” reports that “Back To The Beginning” raised nearly $200 million.
