Black Sabbath Honored

The founding members of Black Sabbath (Ozzy Osbourne – vocals, Tony Iommi – guitar, Terence “Geezer” Butler – bass and Bill Ward – drums) were awarded the Freedom of the City of Birmingham at a Saturday (6/28) ceremony in the Council House.

The Freedom Of The City scrolls and medals were presented by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor.

Black Sabbath

This honor, one of the oldest traditional ceremonies in the country, recognizes Black Sabbath’s significance to the cultural and musical identity of Birmingham, their strong association with the city (their hometown) and continued influence as pioneers of Heavy Metal in both Birmingham and beyond.

Black Sabbath will play their farewell concert on July 5th in Birmingham.
