Songs To Rock New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve rock songs that hit like a countdown clock on overdrive—loud, reckless, and wired for release. These are songs built for clinking glasses, crowded rooms, and that charged moment when the old year finally loosens its grip. Guitars snarl, drums sprint, and everything feels tuned for motion rather than reflection. The volume goes up, hesitation gets left behind, and the night becomes less about nostalgia than ignition.

The Final Countdown – Europe

The title track from the band’s third album was based on a keyboard riff written by lead vocalist John Tempest. The song peaked at #8 on the Billboard 200 in ’86.

Funky New Year – The Eagles

The B-side of “Please Come Home For Christmas,” the song was composed by the band’s Don Henley and Glenn Frey along with their frequent collaborator, J.D. Souther.

After Midnight – Eric Clapton

Written and originally released by J.J. Cale in ’66, Clapton covered the tune for his ’70 s eponymous album.

Next Year – Foo Fighters

The song was the last single from the band’s third album “There’s Nothing Left To Lose.”

Party Hard – Andrew W.K.

Andrew Fetterly Wilkes-Krier (born May 9, 1979), known professionally as Andrew W.K., is known for his anthemic songs about partying.

It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) – R.E.M.

Composed by the band, the track was the second single from the band’s ’87 album, “Document.”

1999 – Prince
