A Day In Rock: September 2nd, 1995 -The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame Opens

On this day twenty-nine years ago… The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame opens.

The night before Bruce Springsteen, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis performed. Soul Asylum backed Iggy Pop (on “Back Door Man”) and Lou Reed (for “Sweet Jane”). Jerry Lee (with help from Springsteen & The E Street Band) delivered “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On'” and “Great Balls Of Fire.”

The Rock Hall located in Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie was established on April 20th, 1983. Cleveland was chosen in ’86 as the Hall of Fame’s permanent home and was dedicated on September 1st, ’95.
