A Day In Rock: December 27th, 1996 – Garbage Singer Honored
On this day… Garbage vocalist Shirley Manson was named Best New Female Singer by Entertainment Weekly.
The Scottish singer-songwriter and one-time Angelfish vocalist was invited to work with Garbage in 1994. The band’s self-titled debut album, released the following year, went on to sell over 4-million copies, buoyed by a run of chart successes including “Only Happy When It Rains” and “Stupid Girl.”
Manson became the public face of the band over the course of a tour that went to the end of 1996.
Over the course of her career, Manson recorded one album with Angelfish and seven with Garbage.
