Blue Medusa Present New Single: “Flying Monkey”
Blue Medusa, with former Arch Enemy and current Dragonforce vocalist Alissa White-Gluz has returned with “Flying Monkey.” The band also has guitarists Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia with bassist Alicia Vigil and drummer Delaney Jaster for live shows.
“‘Flying Monkey’ is exactly the kind of music I want to be making,” enthuses Alissa White-Gluz. “I am so inspired by Dani and Alyssa. This Blue Medusa album is almost like writing my memoirs and I have loved every aspect of creating it.”
Sophia adds “‘Flying Monkey’ was written in this really liminal space, this waiting area in between chapters in my life, and the melodies reflect the themes of the nightmares I was having at the time. No matter where I was, I kept hearing an out-of-tune music box playing in the distance…”

White-Gluz co-produced and arranged the track.
“Flying Monkey” follows the single “Checkmate.”
“‘Checkmate’ is an extremely cathartic song for me,” White-Gluz notes. “It was created in one of those flow states where the lyrics and melodies and rhythms just write themselves and you get the feeling that you’re on to something powerful. It’s probably the heaviest thing I’ve written.
