NCAA Bans Metallica Song

NCAA banned Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” during the first round NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament last Friday night.

The Virginia Tech Hokies have long used the song as entrance music.

Did it get banned because the Hokies didn’t have permission to play the track from Metallica‘s self-title ’91 set (The Black Album”)? No, they had clearance from Metallica.

Where the lyrics an issue?  No.

The NCAA banned “Enter Sandman” to keep the venue ‘neutral’. The first round of the tournament was at Virginia Tech’s Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, VA.

No matter. Virginia Tech fans responded by loudly chanting “Enter Sandman” instead.
