Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack takes issue with Roger Waters after the Pink Floyd co-founder claims in an interview that he “never did” care about Black Sabbath and “couldn’t give a fuck” about Ozzy.
“I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did,” says Waters. “Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.”
Osbourne responds with, “How pathetic and out of touch you’ve become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a c*nt. Thanks for proving him right.”

The Sex Pistols with singer Frank Carter cancel North American shows while guitarist Steve Jones recovers from a broken wrist.
Jones’ surgeon says that he should be back to playing “in the not-too-distant future.” The plan is to reschedule cancelled dates.

“When writing ‘Chosen’, I went back to my life drawing board, writing about the human condition, love, hope, faith and acceptance.,” says Hughes. “Songwriting is deeply personal to me, and l generally write and record when I have something to say.”
The lead single was “Voice In My Head.‘ “(It) tells the story of what’s goin’ on in my subconscious mind,” Hughes comments. “It’s a song that most definitely needed to be written. Very therapeutic.”
Hughes is known for his stint with Deep Purple.

Nita Strauss celebrates her tenth anniversary of getting sober.
The 38-year-old guitarist for the Alice Cooper band and solo performer writes on Instagram, “I had no concept of all the gifts sobriety would bring into my life and how much better the new normal would be!”

9/6 Deftones Are #1
Deftones score their first #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “My Mind Is A Mountain.” It is also Deftones’ first leader on any Billboard airplay chart following a trio of #3 peaks: “Change (In The House Of Flies)” on Alternative Airplay in 2000 followed by “Tempest” (2013) and “Ohms” (2020) on Mainstream Rock Airplay.

Slayer frontman Tom Araya and his wife Sandra renew their vows in a ceremony in their home state of Texas officiated by Slayer guitarist Gary Holt, who is ordained.
“I had the great honor of having been asked to renew the vows for my dear friends Tom and Sandra Araya,” writes Holt.

Singer-songwriter Rick Davies, a founding member of Supertramp passes away at age 81 in his Long Island home after a long battle with cancer.
Supertramp’s “Breakfast In America” album, released in ’79, was certified for selling more than four million copies in the U.S.

Ozzy receives an all-star tribute during the MTV Video Music Awards. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt and Punk’s Yungblud honor the recently departed Metal legend.
The musicians join forces for a “once-in-a-lifetime: medley of Ozzy’s greatest hits.

Perry Farrell
9/8 Perry Farrell Files A Lawsuit
Perry Farrell responds to a lawsuit filed by his Jane’s Addiction bandmates Dave Navarro, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins over the singer’s onstage altercation last year (9/13/24) with Navarro that led the cancelation of Jane’s Additions reunion tour.
Farrell says he acted in “good faith and without malice” toward the guitarist. He’s seeking attorney fees and legal costs related to the case.
The band’s claims against Farrell include intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract, while claims from Navarro include allegations of assault and battery.

9/8 Spinal Tap On TV
Spinal Tap are on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, their first late-night television appearance in more than 15 years.
Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) sit for an in-character interview with a performance of “Big Bottom,”, just days before the theatrical release of the sequel, “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.”

Spinal Tap: The Ends Continues
9/12 “Spinal Tap: The End Continues” Is In Theaters
The mockumentary comedy, the follow-up to the 1984 classic “This Is Spinal Tap,” is in theaters.
Directed by Rob Reiner, the sequel features Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer reprising their roles as members of Spinal Tap, a fictional Heavy Metal Band.
Paul McCartney, Elton John and Garth Brooks make cameo appearances as themselves. Fran Drescher reprises her role as Bobbi Flekman. Paul Shaffer returns as the inept promo man Artie Fufkin.
Like the original film, the production is only loosely scripted so as to be largely improvised by the actors.

The long-defunct band featuring original Evanescence members Ben Moody (guitar) and John LeCompt (guitar), along with vocalist Carly Smithson (pictured front and center), give their first live performance in 14 years. They reunite to for one song at Gamesymphonic (a compilation of video games set to live, fully orchestrated music) in Nashville.

Following a stroke in late ’24, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil returns to the stage to kick-off the band’s delayed Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM.

Eddie Vedder
9/13 Eddie Vedder Is “Terrified”
Vedder, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, is on hand as the hometown Cubs celebrated the retirement of returning veteran first baseman Anthony Rizzo.
Vedder is among those singing “Take Me Out To The Ballgame, with Rizzo and others, including model Cindy Crawford, during the 7th inning stretch.
“Oh, I was terrified,” says Vedder. When asked why, he comments, “Cause I didn’t want them to fuck up,” which earned laughs from Rizzo and Crawford and a bemused grin from the reporter.

Ilan Rubin plays his first concert with the Foo Fighters in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Rubin, the former Nine Inch Nails drummer, joined the Foo Fighters in early ’25.

Messiah Marcolin’s ‘one-off’ performance at the Rock Hard Festival Greece in Athens, marks his first performance with the band in nearly 20 years.

Disturbed is inducted into the Illinois Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet. The band formed in Chicago.
“We’ve come a long way from playing in a public storage unit back in the ’90s and playing all the great bars — anyone who’d let us play, from Champs to Sidetracked to J.J. Kelley’s,” recalls Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan in his acceptance speech.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson sings an a cappella version of the U.S. national anthem prior to the NFL Pittsburgh Steelers’ home opener against the Seattle Seahawks (the eventual winner) at Acrisure Stadium.

At the 77th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in L.A. the Black Sabbath frontman, who along with his family, starred in the early 2000s reality series “The Osbournes,” is featured in the annual ‘In Memoriam’ segment.
Ozzy’s tribute is met with audible cheers and clapping from audience members.

Kid Rock
9/15 Kid Rock Calls Out Mainstream Media
Kid Rock, criticizes mainstream media as “nuthouses” for continuing to fuel division following Charlie Kirk’s assassination during a segment on “Jesse Watters Primetime.”
“The mainstream media is fricking public enemy number one right now,” Rock argues.
Kirk, a conservative activist and founder of Turing Point USA, was shot during an appearance at a Utah college campus.

The frontman for the Swedish Melodic Death Metal pioneers At The Gates dies after a battle with cancer at the age 52 years old.

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler joins his longtime bandmate Joe Perry on stage during The Joe Perry Project’s opening set for The Who at the Hollywood Bowl.
Tyler, a surprise special guest, sings two songs with Perry’s band – Aerosmith’s “Walk This Way” and “The Train Kept A-Rollin’.” Also, Slash (Guns N’ Roses) in on hand for Aerosmith’s “Mama Kin.”
The Joe Perry Project features Aerosmith guitarists Perry and Brad Whitford.

The debut album from the band with Greta Van Fleet co-founder Jake Kiszka, holds the singles “Feels Like Gold” and “Fortune’s Fate.”
“’Feels Like Gold’ weaves together themes of cultural collision, the relentless pursuit of riches, and the complexities of history,” the band writes.
They add that “‘Fortune’s Fate‘ is a song of yearning and escape, one that embodies the quest for freedom and self-discovery.”

“A lot of the themes that I’m getting into on our new album and really our whole catalogue are very realistic takes on knowing that you aren’t perfect and addressing those pitfalls to yourself to become the best version of you possible,” DED’s Joe Cotela states. “Having the bravery to be vulnerable and accountable with yourself and setting the ego aside to get out of our own way is paramount. Learning and then unlearning our traumas and triggers is the key to the door. I love the unique influences and canvas that the band made for me to sing over and this song is a favorite of mine.”

It’s Nine Inch Nails’ original music for “Tron: Ares,” the third installment in the groundbreaking “Tron” film franchise.
It marks the first-ever film score by the band although bandmates Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have composed 20 scores, winning two Oscars and three Golden Globes.
The soundtrack’s techno leaning first single “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” is also the first official music from the band in five years.

Violent Nature
9/19 I Prevail: Violent Nature
“Violent Nature” marks I Prevail’s first new music since the departure of longtime clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser, who was forced to step away from the group’s touring activities due to his battle with Eagle’s syndrome.
As a result, frontman Eric Vanlerberghe handles the bulk of the singing with aid from guitarist Dylan Bowman.
The record is produced by I Prevail’s bassist Jon Eberhard.

Buckle Up

9/19 Death Threat Cancels Morrissey Shows
“In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and the audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled,” reads a message on the Morrissey official Facebook.
The 66-year-old former singer for The Smith singer was set to perform at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, CT. Moments after the Foxwoods cancellation, an additional post went up announcing a 9/20 show at MGM Music Hall in Boston was also cancelled.

9/19 One Dead, Two Injured In Stabbing Outside Phish Concert
An argument takes place among several individuals, which escalates into a physical altercation. The suspect flees the scene on foot, but detectives manage to identify “all parties involved,” adding it appears “to be an isolated incident.”
We are deeply saddened by this and our hearts go out to all of those affected,” states the band.

9/20 Shinedown Are #1… Again
Shinedown are atop Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart with “Killing Fields.” “The song is meant to push you, to inspire you to think for yourself, and ask questions,” proffers Shinedown frontman Brent Smith.
The song was written by Smith with the band’s longtime bassist/producer Eric Bass, alongside frequent collaborator Dave Bassett.

9/20 Sublime Score First Alternative Airplay #1 In Decades
Sublime has its first #1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Airplay chart in nearly three decades with “Ensenada.”
The Ska/Punk band led the Alternative Airplay chart in 1996 with “What I Got,” Twenty-eight years and ten months later, “Ensenada,” with vocalist Jakob Nowell, Bradley’s son, is at the top.

Farm Aid Logo
9/20 Farm Aid Turns 40
That’s kinda sad because Farm Aid was initially seen as a short-term effort to help family farms. But forty years later, Farm Aid 40 in Minneapolis has performances by Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews.
A fundraiser on the YouTube feed collected $80,000 before a chord is played.

Bobbi Cantrell drove from Indiana with her 16 year-old autistic son, Argyle, to see Green Day during the final day of Riot Fest in Chicago. They become separated after Bobbi takes a bathroom break. She can’t locate her son until Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong pulls Argyle on stage to sing “Know Your Enemy.” He performs perfectly. Bobbi sees and it’s a mother and child reunion.

Lisa Jeanine Findley, the woman behind scheme to sell Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate-turned-museum, is sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison.
The judge calls it “a highly sophisticated scheme to defraud,” and adding it would have been a “travesty of justice” if it had somehow resulted in Graceland’s sale.

9/22 “Into The Void” Metal Doc On Hulu
“Into The Void: Life, Death & Heavy Metal,” an eight-part docuseries premieres on Hulu.
Created by Jason Eisner and Evan Husney, the eight-part series features episodes on Judas Priest, guitarist Randy Rhoads (Quiet Riot/Ozzy Osbourne), and confrontational frontwoman Wendy O’ Williams (Plasmatics).

9/23 Ghost Frontman Is Sick
Ghost is forced to cancel the first of its three scheduled concerts in Mexico City after singer Tobias Forge falls ill.
In a statement the band says Forge – the masked frontman Papa V Perpetua – has contracted food poisoning and is unable to play.

Accept part ways with guitarist Uwe Lulis, who joined the band a decade ago as the replacement for Herman Frank.
“After deep deliberation, Accept will return to the traditional two guitar player lineup,” reads a band statement. “This decision was solely based on logistical challenges, with no personal or musical disagreements at all.”

Hatebreed respond to a lawsuit filed by former bassist Chris Beattie with a motion filed by their legal team.
The group’s legal representation asks the court to dismiss four of the six claims that Beattie made in his lawsuit. The two remaining claims concern the band’s merchandising sales.

9/25 Wife Of Weezer Bassist Catches A Break
Bestselling author Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer’s Scott Shriner, is granted the right to enter a mental health diversion program.
When completed a judge is expected to dismiss the two felony charges filed against her in connection with a backyard exchange of gunfire with LAPD officers. Officials say she fired first.

King Crimson members Adrian Belew and Tony Levin along with guitar virtuoso Steve Vai and Tool drummer Danny Carey are Beat.
They offer creative reinterpretations of ’80’s King Crimson albums “Discipline,” “Beat” and “Three Of A Perfect Pair.”
“You’re walking on stage with three virtuoso musicians, world-class professionals who have seen it all but are still having fun playing this music which is timeless and unlike anything done before or since,” Belew reflects.

9/26 Mother Love Bone: Shine & Apple
The “Shine” EP originally released in ’89 and seminal the ’90 full-length debut “Apple” are reissued.
Mother Love Bone formed in ’87 and made it to ’90. Frontman Andrew Wood’s charisma and songwriting helped catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning Seattle music scene.
Days before “Apple” was slated for released, Wood overdosed on heroin ending the group. Guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament went on to form Pearl Jam.

“President (a masked British band rumored to be fronted by Charlie Simpson of the Pop-Punk act Busted) began as an attempt to confront the uncomfortable,” the band offers in a statement. “To watch others embrace that confrontation has been quietly profound. There to be done. We press forward.
The EP with a Biblical reference title, addresses themes of life, darkness, religion, and death.

9/26 “The Rasmus In Ukraine” Doc Released
Last summer, The Rasmus performed as the headliner (and only foreign act) at the Atlas Festival in war-torn Kiev, Ukraine.
The band releases a short ten-minute documentary, “The Rasmus In Ukraine,” about their time in the country.

M Shadows
9/26 Avenged Sevenfold Postpone South American Trek
The tour is postponed to “early next year” due to frontman M. Shadows diagnosis of “a specific condition called a vocal fold hematoma,” a rupture of a submucosal blood vessel of the vocal fold.
“We promise to come back stronger than ever,” the band posts on social media.

9/27 Architects Earn First #1
Architects’ “Everything Ends” climbs two spots to reach #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. It is the band’s first #1 on the chart.
The track is the lead single from “The Sky, The Earth & All Between,” Architects’ 11th studio album, which has earned 80,000 equivalent album units to date.

Bruce Springsteen
9/28 Springsteen Live And On Flim
Bruce Springsteen takes the stage for a surprise acoustic performance of his song “Land Of Hope And Dreams” following the New York Film Festival premiere of “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.”
Starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen the film’s theatrical release is set for October 24th.
