Paramore’s Haley Williams Responds To “Toxic Workplace” Complaints

Paramore’s Haley Williams disputes allegations that a salon she co-founded in Nashville, Fruits Hair Lab, fostered a toxic workplace environment.

William made a statement coinciding with World Mental Health Day (10/10 that was posted on one of Williams’ other business ventures, the hair dye company, Good Dye Young. Williams spoke about her own mental health struggles and the need for more mental health resources and support.

A few people claiming to be former employees of Fruits Hair Lab popped up in the comments section calling Williams’ statement “performative” and going on to assert that the salon was a difficult place to work and alleged that complaints about issues were ignored.

Williams, in response, stressed that while she co-founded the salon, she is “not the boss,” doesn’t have a day-to-day role – that’s the function of the salon manager, Williams did acknowledge the salon had seen some employee turnover, but the result was positive.

“When this group of Fruits employees chose to leave, the remaining team of stylists reported that the environment in the salon became immediately more positive and less toxic,” she wrote. “Do with that what you will.”
