Smith/Kotzen’s “Black Light/White Noise” Arrives
Guitarists Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden) and Richie Kotzen (The Winery Dogs) have rolled out “Black Light/White Noise,” featuring the lead single “White Noise.”

“The song is about the rise of social media, how people get addicted to it, the power of it and how we get bombarded with it 24/7,” explained Smith.
According to Kotzen the song originated from a riff Smith developed. “I then immediately started improvising the melody and the lyric that became the chorus,” added Kotzen. “We kind of came up on the spot with that call and answer in the chorus that turned into ‘White Noise’.”
The second single was “Black Light.” “We’d be writing and I’d want something inspired by some of my old Hard Rock or blues go-to bands then it’d go into a more progressive feel,” offered Smith. “And then Richie has these strong soul influences so there’s a lot to dig into there too. Influences are what makes the musical world go round — they go through you and come out slightly differently.”
