R.E.M. Assembles For The First Time In 17 Years

R.E.M. singer Michael Stipe, bassist Mike Mills, guitarist Peter Buck and drummer Bill Berry, all appeared onstage together in Athens, GA on 2/8 for the first time since their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in ’07.

Bandmembers, who did not perform, were attending am Athens, GA concert featuring actor Michael Shannon (frequent collaborator with director Jeff Nichols) and musician Jason Narducy (featured in the Foo Fighters documentary “Sonic Highways”), who have been touring playing R.E.M.’s “Murmur” album.

R.E.M.’s presence onstage at the end of the show served as a stamp of approval for Shannon and Narducy’s tribute.
