Queen To Be Honored With Polar Prize
The Polar Music Prize ceremony, which will honor Queen, is scheduled for May 27th, at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm, Sweden.
“Queen, a band synonymous with the very fabric of pop culture, have made an impact on music that spans decades, generations and genres,” noted Marie Ledin, managing director of the Polar Music Prize. “They are a most deserving recipient, beloved the world over.”
“We are highly and deeply honored to be given the Polar Music Prize this year,” said Queen in a statement. “It’s incredible, thank you so much.”
Adam Lambert, of Queen + Adam Lambert with Queen founding members Brian May and Roger Taylor, Ghost, aided by Opeth guitarist Fredrik Åkesson, and former Skid Row singer Erik Grönwall are slated to perform.
In addition to Queen, Jazz great Herbie Hancock and Canadian soprano and conductor Barbara Hannigan will also be honored.
