New Music: Quicksand, Converge, Lex Legion, Evergrey & Acid Reign

Quicksand
Regenerate
Quicksand: Regenerate
The New York City Post-Hardcore band will release their next album, “Bring On The Psychics,” on July 17th.
‘Regenerate’ is about finding new paths forward,” offers Quicksand guitarist/vocalist Walter Schreifels. “It’s a theme I think we all return to. No matter how well you play it, life will keep taking things away from you. It sucks but this is how we learn and grow as people, so it might be we’re living the most when faced with having to get back up from a hard hit.”
In addition to Schreifels, Quicksand has bassist/vocalist Sergio Vega and drummer Alan Cage.

Converge
Doom In Bloom

“It’s dark and pointed right at you,” guitarist Kurt Ballou states. “Lyrically, I’m exploring how my own middle-aged introspection doesn’t always bring a brighter light. I see my own trappings reflected in those around me. Here I am imploring them to slip the noose to see another day.”
Converge’s next album, “Hum Of Hurt,” will drop on June 5th. It will be the band’s second full length release of 2026.
“When we came together to write, we ended up with a wealth of material,” vocalist and lyricist Jacob Bannon says. “As work progressed, we realized we had created two separate albums, and treated them as such.”
According to Bannon: “Love Is Not Enough,” released earlier this year, is a “Metal leaning album” while “Hum Of Hurt” is an “emotional Hardcore album.”

Lex Legion
Gypsy Tears

The band features four-fifths of King Diamond’s’ classic late ’80s lineup.
“The song style is different (compared to King Diamond) but still from the same era,” notes Lex Legion guitarist Andy La Rocque. The riffs are different and the arrangements are a little less progressive and a little more straightforward.”
“Gypsy Tears” is the follow-up to the single “Sleep Eternally.”
Joining La Rocque are Nils K. Rue (vocals), Pete Blakk (guitar), Pete Blakk (guitar) and Hal Patino (bass) and Mikkey Dee (drums).

Evergrey
Leaving The Emptiness
Evergrey: Leaving The Emptiness
The song is from Evergrey’s fifteenth album, “Architects Of A New Weave,” which arrives on June 5th.
“Our new single is a high-energy firecracker that makes you want to jump — we know, because we just played it in Brazil twice and people were more in the air than on the ground,” recalls Evergrey frontman Tom S. Englund. “But don’t let the adrenaline fool you. Underneath the surge is something rawer — a song about the moment you stop running from what hurts and finally turn to face it.”
Evergrey recently announced the addition of guitarist Stephen Platt. “I am extremely honored to have been asked by this group of incredible musicians and people,” says Platt.

Acid Reign
Sorrowsworn

The track is from the upcoming album, “Daze Of The Week,” expected May 15th.
The set will mark the band’s first release since 2019’s “The Age Of Entitlement.”
“This one is for every single thrasher around the world who thought that albums like this couldn’t be made anymore,” vocalist and sole remaining original member Howard ‘H’ Smith comments. “It’s been two years in the making and at times I thought it might never even see the light of day. Every note of every performance in every song has been lovingly captured by our sixth member producer Jayce Lewis and we couldn’t be happier with the results.”
