Metallica’s Makes Major L.A. Wildfire Relief Donation
Metallica’s All Within My Hands (AWMH) foundation is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief And Recovery Fund.
$250,000 is going to the Wildfire Recovery Fund to ensure resources reach those most in need – prioritizing underserved communities by leveraging partnerships with community-based organizations and government agencies.
Another $250,000 is granted to the Eaton Canyon Fire Relief And Recovery Fund to serve immediate needs during relief efforts as the fires continue to spread.
The Los Angeles area fires have resulted in widespread destruction since January 7th and despite containment progress over the weekend, the Santa Ana winds are expected to reach up to 70 miles per hour over the coming days, creating critical fire conditions.
The fires have taken at least 24 lives with nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders. 40,000 acres have burned, and more than 12,000 structures — commercial and residential — have been destroyed. The impact on lives is, of course, incalculable.
All Within My Hands was established in 2017 by Metallica to invest in the people and places that have supported the band.
