Medical Updates: Rikki Rocket (Poison), Jennifer Finch (L7) and Mikey “Bug” Cox (Coal Chamber)
Three musicians who have undergone treatment for cancer have released information regarding their medical treatment.
Poison drummer Rikki Rockett reports that he is still cancer free, ten years after he was diagnosed with oral cancer.
“In 2015 I went to my ENT (ear, nose and throat doctor) because I was on my second round of antibiotics to cure a sore throat,” explained Rockett. “I got scoped that day and not long after I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Head and Neck Cancer (Throat Cancer). I began a three-month, intensive treatment plan that included radiation (5 days a week) and Chemo (weekly). Then you have to wait another three months to see if it worked.”
“My trial was scheduled as a two year trial. It lasted nine months and I was declared cancer free just 18 weeks after I started.:

Jennifer Finch
Finch’s’s friends, family and collaborators have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help defray medical and other expenses.
L7 bassist Jennifer Finch has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
“We are all devastated by the news and are surrounding her with love, while helping raise the resources she urgently needs for the care ahead,” says L7’s Donita Sparks. “Jennifer is family,.”
Finch has undergone multiple surgeries that have resulted in significant physical limitations. She now requires extensive ongoing medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home assistance.
Coal Chamber drummer Mikey “Bug” Cox recently underwent surgery related to his cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment.
” I’m in a ridiculous amount of pain,” states Cox in a video. “They had to cut my ab muscle and sewed it back together so that is pain every time I breathe but surgery was a massive success and hopefully the last one. I now have to get my walking ability back and then get into all my PT (physical therapy). If I can get a handle on my neuropathy and joint pain we are looking good. I’ll be ready to go full steam in a few months!”
