Led Zeppelin Album Sleeve Auctioned
According to the BBC a “Houses Of The Holy” album sleeve signed by the members of Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones and John Bonham) has sold for £15,000 ($18.000 U.S.) at auction in the U.K.
Zep’s fifth album, containing “Dancing Days” and “The Ocean,” was released in ’73.
The cardboard sleeve (album not included) is believed to be one of less than 30 albums signed by all four members in existence. That’s due to Bonham’s untimely death in ‘80 and the band’s subsequent split.
The sleeve, which sold for more than 10 times its estimated value, has some light wear and tear to the corners and edges.
The seller acquired the autographs during a chance encounter with the band at Gatwick Airport in ‘77.
