Falling In Reverse
Falling In Reverse scored a #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock chart with “All My Life,” a Country-Rock collaboration between the band and Jelly Roll (Jason Bradley DeFord).
Later in 24, the band’s fifth album, “Popular Monster” dropped followed by a U.S. tour. Next was a U.K. run of dates. But the band was denied entry because frontman Ronnie Radke had done prison time. Wait. What?
In 2006, Radke was implicated in an Las Vegas altercation that resulted in a fatally shooting. He was not involved in the shooting but was indicted on charges relating to owning brass knuckles that he brought to that altercation. Given Radke’s past troubles with narcotics and rehab, he was sentenced to five years’ probation. But after failing to report to his probation officer, he was mandated to serve his original sentence of two years in prison.
As a result, Radke was bounced from the post-hardcore band Escape The Fate. That led to bad feelings all the way around.
While behind bars Radke put together what became the first edition of Falling In Reverse.
Radke was released in December of 2010. Falling In Reverse dropped their debut, “The Drug In Me Is You, the following year. Though the set received mixed reviews it went gold.
Two albums arrived over the next four years: “Fashionably Late” (2013) and “Just Lie You” (2015).
But tours were cancelled due to family issues and band member departures, leaving Radke the only original member.
“It’s a huge left turn,” said Radke of the band’s fourth album, “Coming Home.” “It sounds like nothing we’ve ever done. Every song is very vibey, There’s more feeling in it instead of a lot of Metal.”
The public was not impressed. Radke felt the album ‘tanked’ and that led the band to focus on releasing singles rather than a full album.
2019 saw the release of the single “Popular Monster.” The song went to #1 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock survey. It garnered over 300 million streams on Spotify. Five years later, the song became the title track of the band’s fifth album.
Subsequent singles “Voices In My Head,” “Watch The World Burn,” “Last Resort” (a cover of the Papa Roach song) and “Ronald” were also included on the “Popular Monster” album.
