Ex-Delain Vocalist Releases “The Obsession”

Charlotte Wessels has issued her third full-length solo effort, “The Obsession.”

“This album is significant, for on the one hand, telling such a deeply personal journey — through its unintended theme of fear and obsessive thoughts — and at the same time, representing the joy of finding the song’s true forms with everyone involved in the making of this record,” Wessels explained.

The set contains the singles “Exorcism and the hypnotizing “Dopamine,” featuring Epica’s Simone Simons.

The latter track references the time Wessels was on Sertraline, a type of antidepressant, a few years ago.

“While the medication was really helpful, there were so many side effects that I’d never heard of,” Wessels offered. “This song deals with some of them, I hope it helps in breaking down the shame and taboo around the topic.”
