A signed Eddie Van Halen Peavey EVH Wolfgang guitar goes on the auction block where it sells for $110,000. The axe belonged to Jason Becker, a rising guitar phenom who recorded two albums and had stints with David Lee Roth, before being diagnosed with ALS in 1989. He has to part with the instrument in order to raise money for his ongoing care, which costs more than $100,000 a year.  2023

A public memorial is held in Arlington, TX, for Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott who was shot to death on-stage in Columbus, OH, on December 8th. 2004

Former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page is appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. Page is recognized for his charitable work with underprivileged Brazilian youth over the past decade. “I would never have expected to have an award for my humble efforts,” says the axeman. 2005

Billboard names Daughtry’s self-titled debut the top-selling album of the year.   2007

Paramore announce that bassist Jeremy Davis has left the band in what his former colleagues call a “painful” split. Frontwoman Hayley Williams and guitarist Taylor York vow they’ll keep Paramore going. 2015

Iced Earth guitarist Jon Schaffer is one of more than two dozen members of the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys who are sued by District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine in an effort to recover the millions of dollars the city spent to defend the U.S. Capitol during the 1/6/21 attack. Schaffer was arrested and faces criminal charges for his part in the attack to nullify the ’20 Presidential election.  2021
