George Harrison Guitar Auctioned For Record Amount

George Harrison’s Resonet Futurama guitar, played during The Beatles‘ early years, has sold for $1.27 million at Julien’s Auctions’ “Played, Worn & Torn II” event (on 11/20).

Originally priced at between $600,000 to $800,000, the Resonet Futurama sold for double the low-end estimate, making it the most expensive Harrison-owned guitar ever sold at auction.

Harrison purchased the guitar in 1959 from a music store in Liverpool and played it at over 300 Beatles performances, as well as during the band’s first recording sessions.

“We’re beyond thrilled to add this Harrison guitar to the Julien’s Auctions’ million-dollar club, which already includes guitars from John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and Kurt Cobain,” enthused Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions.
