6/28 Metallica Members Play Banned Song
Metallica’s Kirk Hammett (pictured) and Rob Trujillo perform a portion of Tom Jones “Delilah” during the band’s Principality Stadium concert in Cardiff, Wales.
The song, a fan favorite during rugby matches, was banned by stadium officials in 2023 over a reference to domestic violence.

Geddy Lee
6/30 Geddy Lee Suffers Laryngitis
Rush is forced to postpone their concert and a July 2nd show – both at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX – after bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee is diagnosed with laryngitis and bronchitis.
“After being evaluated by his doctors, he has been advised that he needs additional time to rest and recover before returning to the stage,” reads a band statement.

Ozzy Osbourne
7/1 Ozzy’s Throne Goes On Display
Ozzy Osbourne’s iconic black gothic throne, last used during the “Back To The Beginning” concert, is on display as part of the free exhibition “Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero” at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery in his home city to coincide with the anniversary of his final gig and his death in July last year. The throne was used due to Ozzy’s ongoing health issues.

7/1 SOil Founder Dies
Guitarist Shaun Glass dies after suffering a “medical emergency” at age 57. He had a four-album tenure with SOil, from its inception in 1997 to his exit, due to personal and musical differences, in late 2007.
SOil’s current line-up notes Glass was an “integral part of SOiL in the early years.”

Venezuelan Earthquake Relief
7/2 Metallica Sends Relief Funds To Venezuela
Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation provides a $100,000 grant for earthquake relief efforts in Venezuela through Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization. On June 24th, Venezuela was hit by back-to-back, devastating earthquakes.

7/3 Taylor Swift Gets Married – Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney Sing
Pop superstar Taylor Swift marries football star Travis Kelce in Madison Square Garden in front of 1,000-guests. Later, longtime Swift friend Stevie Nicks performs at the wedding reception.
The wedding is officiated by actor-comedian Adam Sandler – a close friend of Swift and Kelce. Sandman also wrote a song for the bride and groom that was “humorous yet touching.”
Sir Paul McCartney is the surprise highlight, as the former Beatle comes onstage to sing “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”
Written by McCartney and John Lennon, the 1964 hit was The Beatles first #1 in the U.S.

Twisting The Knife
7/4 Ice Nine Kills Reach The Top With Grace
“Twisting The Knife,” a collaboration between Ice Nine Kills and actress-singer McKenna Grace is #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart.
The song was recorded for the Scream 7 soundtrack which premiered last February. Grace appears in the film as Hannah Thurman.
“When we learned that Mckenna Grace is a fan of our band, it made perfect sense to invite her to sing,” states Ice Nine Kills frontman Spencer Charnas.
It’s the first time that either Ice Nine Kills or Grace has topped the Mainstream Rock survey.

7/4 Judas Priest Frontman Congratulates America
Rob Halford takes to social media to extend congratulations to America on its 250th-anniversary milestone.
The British born musician, who resides in Phoenix, AZ, expresses the hope that America’s future would be “marked by courage, progress, unconditional love and freedom for all.”
