“Warning,” the sixth studio album from Green Day, is out. Going to #4 on the Billboard 200, it is the group’s first major label release not to initially go multi-platinum – but it eventually sells over a million copies. 2000

Asking Alexandria land their third Top 10 hit at Active Rock Radio when “Alone In A Room” moves up to #9. The track is the second single from the band’s eponymous fifth studio album.  “Alone In A Room” generates more than 13.3 million streams on Spotify, 28 million global streams and 4.9 million YouTube views.  2018

The Hollaback Girl. No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani is born in Fullerton, CA, but grows up in Anaheim. Aside from singing, she’s an accomplished songwriter, fashion designer and occasional actress. 1969

Creedence Clearwater Revival stall at #2 (the highest pop chart position CCR ever attained) when the Country influenced “Lookin’ Out My Back Door” peaks. 1970

Aerosmith’s concert in Fort Wayne, IN, is disrupted by a police raid. Officers arrest scores of audience members (estimated between 30 and 50) for smoking marijuana. The band bails their fans out of jail after their set. 1978

Drummer Nate Wood (The Calling) starts his life. 1979

Journey’s breakthrough ballad “Who’s Crying Now” goes to #4 on the Billboard 100. 1981

The Cars bassist, Benjamin Orr, succumbs to pancreatic cancer at age 53. 2000

The Who’s Pete Townshend is honored at BMI’s London Awards. The performing-rights organization recognizes Europe’s leading songwriters and composers. Townshend receives TV Music Awards for penning tunes used on the three CSI TV series. 2006

Ex-Police guitarist Andy Summers’ autobiography “One Train Later” is published. “I’ve had a fairly amazing life and I’ve been very lucky,” says Summers. “I’ve been in on all the amazing moments.” 2006

The Fifth Annual Johnny Ramone Tribute takes place at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, where the Ramones’ guitarist is buried. Over 3,000 fans in attendance raise funds for the cancer research fund at University of Southern California Westside Prostate Cancer Center. 2009

Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen and the band’s manager Dave Frey appear in Washington D.C. to urge Congress to seek legislation regarding temporary stages. The band narrowly escaped a stage collapse in Canada at the Ottawa Bluesfest the previous July. 2011

Disturbed’s David Draiman defends streaming services arguing that the real culprits are fans who think it’s okay to illegally download music. Draiman states piracy is the root of the entire problem.  2016

Devildriver part ways with Neal Tiemann their guitarist for six years. “Neal filled in a time when we needed him most, we thank him for his touring & song writing efforts,” writes frontman Dez Fafara in a statement.  2021
