Produced by The Edge, the album consists of re-recorded and reinterpreted versions of 40 songs from the group’s back catalogue (“With Or Without You,” “Vertigo,” “Where The Streets Have No Name,” etc.).

“Songs Of Surrender” is a companion Bono’s memoir, “Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story,” which was released last November.
During the book’s promotional tour, Bono performed many songs with stripped-down arrangements mirroring those from the album.
