Rock Albums Released on This Day in History
On this day Morrissey released two of his most pivotal solo albums—Viva Hate in 1988 and Vauxhall and I in 1994—exactly eight years apart. While Viva Hate marked his first step beyond The Smiths with biting wit and melodic melancholy, it’s Vauxhall and I that’s widely hailed as his solo masterpiece. More introspective and sonically refined, the album captures a rare vulnerability and maturity in Morrissey’s songwriting, solidifying his place not just as a former frontman, but as a compelling solo voice in his own right.
